Friends of the Library

Looking for people!

Dear Friend,

This letter is an invitation for you to join the Frank B. Koller Friends of the Library. We are a nonprofit, 501(c)(3), organization that has a long history of assisting our library in meeting the needs of the Manitowish Waters community. Many of you may remember the history of Andrew Carnegie and his gifts of libraries around the United States. One of the stipulations for a community to get a Carnegie grant was that the citizens demonstrate commitment to a library. That idea is still an important part of the life of libraries today. Our library staff is so committed to our community, it is important for volunteers to support their work and make sure that the needs of the library are met.

Our library is the heart of our community to so many and we would like you to become active in helping to meet its needs. We are reaching out to you to share your time, talents, and ideas. Here are a few committees that are in need of new members and their creative and innovative ideas:

· Programs

· Author Event

· Book sale

· Membership

· Marketing and Promotion of Library

· Library Volunteer opportunity through Janelle Kohl, Director Koller Library

· Newsletter

· Fundraising

· Friends of the Koller Library Board

Our Friends Group Needs You! Please let us know if you would be interested in joining! If you are already a member, please update your information. Please email your contact information to [email protected]

Supporting the Frank B. Koller Memorial Library

The Friends of the Frank B. Koller Memorial Library are an auxiliary support group for the library. The Friends run several fundraisers throughout the year, and provide a large portion of the library's new material budget.

Every fall, we give the contributions from individual donors and the proceeds of our fundraisers to the library. The library director uses this money for the purchase of computers, books, DVDs, and other materials and programs. As you may know, our tax dollars pay for building utilities, library salaries, and the Merlin program, but do not pay for the purchase of any library materials.

As always, we thank you for your consideration and continued support.
